Juliana is the founder and CEO of Start Smart, and also manages the company’s business development efforts. She has a strong interest in entrepreneurship, and in particular emerging markets. Juliana holds an AB in Economics from Princeton University and a Masters in Management Studies from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. She has also spent time working for Google in Ghana on its business and university outreach initiatives, and Accenture in Washington, D.C. as a consultant for federal, private sector and nonprofit clients. William joined Start Smart in late 2012 and co-leads our community engagement efforts. He has a strong interest in science and technology in emerging markets, and has had experience working with entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector in Ghana (specifically with irrigation initiatives). William holds a BS in Materials Science and Engineering from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Masters in Material Science and Engineering from The University of Pennsylvania. Currently William works for Schlumberger in Saudi Arabia on its oil field operations.
Sheila joined Start Smart in late 2012 and co-leads our community engagement efforts. She has a strong interest in female economic empowerment. Sheila holds an AB in Economics and Political Economy from Princeton University. She has had experience across Africa in education, economic development, healthcare and policy at a number of institutions including the African Leadership Academy.
Ricardo joined Start Smart in early 2013 and leads our content development efforts. He has a strong interest in finance and wealth management, and in particular is interested in fostering learning for entrepreneurs. Ricardo holds a BS in Airport Management from the Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology and a Masters in Management Studies from The Fuqua, School of Business, Duke University. His professional experience includes airport management and finance.
Yaw joined Start Smart in early 2013 and currently leads our technology development efforts. He is passionate about technology and entrepreneurship in Africa and has worked on a number of technology related initiatives. Yaw holds a BS in Computer Mathematics from Carleton University and has gained several years of experience as a software developer at IBM.
Benjamin joined Start Smart in early 2013 and currently leads our sales, conference and event management efforts. He is passionate about engaging the youth to take charge of their futures through entrepreneurship. Ben holds a BSc in Biochemistry from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and gained experience in agribusiness and the medical technology sector.
